It takes between 7 and 10 lbs of pressure to decock the TP9SA depending on where on the button you’re pressing (10 on the pads on either side, 7 right in the center). I would have considered buying the original Canik tp9 if I was on a budget but not this newer single action gun because it lacks the double action safety feature. I was also able to get 18 rds into one of my mags. They basically returned a new gun at give away prices. If I wanted to actually use the included holster for range time or competition, I’d disable the lock, which could be done very easily through a handful of different methods. Runs damn fine. Good write up on the Canik. While they are easy to actuate to send the slide home, I have yet to accidentally hit them and prevent slide lock-back. The only thing I would like to see Canik do different is a paddle mag release. BUT I would buy the CANIK for a secondary weapon (glove box/shop/end table/etc. I don’t see a problem with the decocker at all. It may well tempt the hammer-fired aficionados among us. Except — and I promise this is the end of the decocker discussion! Because it has proven to be the subject of some controversy, I’m going to dwell on it longer than I otherwise would. I’ve tried it out repeatedly, and based on it’s position and the pressure needed to actuate it, I can’t envision a scenario where you could actuate it outside of a deliberate and intentional press of the switch. With Canik, we at least get a price point, more mags, holster included (hard trigger guard, hmm) ISO rated operating system, NATO certified, cleaning kit, mag loader. After that, straight into an IPSC-style stage: With fewer than 60 total rounds through the gun — half of which were slow-fired from a sandbag — it served me well right out of the gate. As mentioned, this TP9SA prints a bit high for me — about three inches. The included magazine loader was greatly appreciated in convincing the new double-stack magazines to submit during the initial range session. While not quite possessing CZ or Walther PPQ ergonomics, the TP9SF Elite is very comfortable in the hand. Nice to have a larger backstrap, but then customization options start to come up short. A few gripes (some self-inflicted): – The little red dot thingy which indicates a cocked striker fell off somewhere at the range. There was no need to resort to corrective training or an aftermarket trigger to achieve stellar down-range results off the rack.
